Tribute to Elizabeth Taylor : Etsy Style

Liz loved diamonds and shine! These lookalikes in rhinestone, $23, by LastCaress. |
I saw an interview with her in 2007 talking to Mary Hart on Entertainment Tonight of her work with AIDS. Liz said she had in that interview that she had always resented her fame. She hid from it--but only until she realized no one was doing anything about AIDS and she felt she had to, and she could. Later of course, she would . Supermodel Gia Carangi was perhaps one of America's Top Models in the early 1980's gracing many magazine covers, but sadly only 26 when she died of the disease in 1986. Liz knew she had to do something. Even though some people frowned upon Liz getting involved, she felt it was her calling and could use her stardom to raise awareness. By the time Angelia Jolie immortalized Gia's story in the 1998 movie, Liz was hard at work. I suppose back then, in those early days, the world was ignorant about the disease, perhaps scared and uneducated.
Liz said she received death threats but that didn't stop her from becoming an advocate for the patients with HIV and fighting for more research and awareness for the disease. It is perhaps partly her credit that AIDs research has come as far as it has. Although she's gone this fashion icon will live on forever. In addition to her passion for AIDS awareness, was her love for her "bling-bling" gorgeous jewelry. The book, "My Love Affair With Jewelry" will be sought after by collectors, which discusses the prized pieces in her collection, who gave them to her, and what was going on in her life at the time. Copies on the net are already priced between $80 and $170. Not only will the book act as prominence for her glorious collection but serve as documentation in history as to the origin of her pieces and history of them.
Liz loved emeralds, they claim Richard Burton got her hooked on them. She even designed many green stones in her own collection. This bridal set, $495.00 by vintagebellabride. |
