Bamboo Toilet Tissue! 100% Tree Free!

My husband Joe works at a natural health foods store, Akin's Natural Foods Market, and last night he purchased our very first package of bamboo toilet tissue! I couldn't be more thrilled! It is made out of 100% bamboo and thus is 100% TREE FREE! The company that makes this particular bamboo toilet paper is Ultra Green, and I am inspired by the details about the product listed on their packaging:
Beyond Recycled Paper: Before recycled paper became "recycle paper", it originally came from trees. Today, most manufacturers use either a blend of recycled paper with tree pulp or 100% tree pulp to make bath tissue. That's no way to save trees. Ultra Green uses 100% bamboo, a fast growing natural resource. If everyone used this product, we would save millions upon millions of trees.

Design-Swag Design Blog loves Etsy Sellers

Design-Swag.com loves Etsy sellers
Why does 4/5 posts on Design-Swag have Etsy sellers in them?
A new quirky design blog called Design-Swag focuses on everything retro, handmade, and fashionable, but why do they seem to feature Etsy in 4 our of 5 posts?  We were glad to see they even have an "Eco - Upcycled" category.

A few Etsy shops here have been highlighted out of many posts:

Eco
Chair made from recycled belts by kikithespunkymunkey

Handmade
Slippin' Southern Handmade Country Barn Star
Wedding Table Numbers from ZCreateDesign
Nursery Prints from TwoFishPrints

DIY
Three shops are featured in this Cigar Box Purse DIY Post!

Vintage
CanemahStudios - History of Keelox Typewriter Tin
BuzzingBeesVintage - Green with Envy Collection (and two other Etsy shops!)

When asked, the Design-Swag admin said, "Etsy is full of new and emerging design. Some of the best kept secrets are there. We love color, swag, and good design, what better place to find it? "

That works for us!

If you think you have a suggestion or tip,  you can post it on their DesignSwagBlog Facebook page, or connect with them on Twitter @Design_Swag

Chicago Illinois Enviro Green Carpet Cleaning

What's this? A Chicago based company in Tinley Park, Illinois called Enviro-Green Carpet Cleaning now offers environmentally friendly carpet cleaning. That's right. Chris Wharry started the business when he wanted more for his own carpets. He was tired of the harsh chemicals being used that were harmful to not on the environment, but probably his pets and children.

He found greener cleaning solutions and took this idea to a business. Enviro-Green Carpet Cleaning utilizes solutions which are certified environmentally friendly and non-toxic by the U.S.  Environmental Protection Agency and the Carpet and Rug Institute

His company services all over Chicago and parts of Illinois. You can read more here

I surely hope other carpet cleaning services nationwide can follow after Chris' trendsetting green ways.
