Random Act of Kindness - Mattie Reid Chicago

I'm pleased to announce that our very own Heather of Texas Vintage Things and Mattie Reid Chicago had her wonderful 'upcycled button barettes' featured in this article on Handmadeology.  When you write articles and feature a member of our team it gains them exposure for their products, plus people will see the "Proud Member of The Etsy Recyclers Guild" in their shop announcement.  It's a win-win situation!

She's one of our leaders now! It is much appreciated  all the work she does on this blog and interviewing and featuring our fellow sellers here on the Etsy Recyclers Guild.  I should also mention that Heather will be donating gifts for the grand prize winner of our contest, which is still open for anyone wanting to enter GO HERE NOW.

Random Act of Kindness: Beat Up Creations & Article Writing Sales Tips

I'm proud to salute Angela, our very own Team Member's shop Beat Up Creations as she was featured in this little blurb I wrote in Environmental Graffiti, a UK online publication that's gaining more and more exposure every day.

It's nature related, and a great way to talk about recycle artists...more team members coming soon.

There's a place to share the article on Facebook, so show some love for your team member.

SELLING TIP FOR YOU:  Writing articles on sites like this isn't going to get you rich, -- articles must get ZILLIONS of page views to really pay off.  However, EXPOSURE if what really matters.  Spreading the word like this will raise awareness for team members and in turn, drive traffic back to you and your shop.  So why not write an article about a shop that does not sell what you sell, and in turn help each other out.   TranzendentalArts was writing for her local Examiner paper.  Contact Cynthia  for tips!   Don't know how to write articles about stores, no problem.  Maybe you are good with recipes, craft ideas, or pet knowledge...just about anything is a go at places like Ezinearticles.com  and GoArticles.com, wherein you write free articles in exchange for putting a blurb on the bottom about YOU and there you can link your STORE or WEBSITE.

Promote each other!

Random Acts of Kindness : Gift to Lizzie Caye

Elizabeth Patel didn't know what she was getting into offering her technical expertise with this blog. In a year we've established a more professional look and added all our member's links.  It's no lie when I say that it took me an hour messing around with HTML in table format to do one shop, and when Liz offered to help I was more than gracious. She does what she can when she can and we are ever so grateful.

I've networked with one my favorite shops, EstateSaleTreasures who has over 6500 Sales to add Lizzie's shop to her announcement.

Vicki, whose a top Etsy Seller with shabby and primitive antiques and supplies, has graciously done so. Hopefully by this small addition to her shop announcement some of her customers will be inclined to take a peek into the wonderful shop of Lizzie Caye.

Thanks Liz for all you do!

Selling Tip:  Asking a top seller to put you in their shop announcement is a great way to get more exposure and drive traffic to your store.  The most one can say is "no."

Random Acts of Kindness : Gift to Texas Vintage

In addition to contests, spotlights, gift swaps, and all that other fun stuff, I was thinking it's time to throw something else out, a RANDOM ACTS OF KINDNESS.  Basically this is where, for no reason at all, I pay it forward and throw a little gift someone'e say as if to say "I APPRECIATE YOU AS A TEAM MEMBER."

For me, I may stick someone on the blog to advertise their store for an unannounced period of time.  Maybe it's a team member who does a lot of work to help out.  Maybe it's someone who never talks, in an attempt to get them to chime in and participate.  Maybe it's someone who needs help, or comfort.  Perhaps I'll write a small article about a shop, or stick them elsewhere on the web for no reason at all, other than to say, "I APPRECIATE YOU AS A TEAM MEMBER."

You can do this too. Put someone in your shop banner and convo them and make their day.  Submit a tip to a site about their shop for no reason. Write an article on your blog.  Do something nice and tell them.  Then they will do something nice...and they will do something nice....

Today I'd like to announce a small sidebar advertising for a new member, TexasVintage.  Her story is one of courage--Heather was selling on "the big boy auction site" for years, and making good money, she finally walked away due to high fees and crappy customer service, she had to prove the point. I was there once, and walking away cost me a lot of sales but I was determined not to deal with someone that didn't treat me right as a customer.  Turning to Etsy will be somewhat of a challenge, trying to build up new clientele, but her offerings are lovely both in her main store and her second shop, MattieReidChicago.   Once a "big boy auction site user" with good sales as well, and walking away for the same reasons, I SALUTE HER WITH THIS FREE SIDEBAR AD on this site an some of my other blogs.  I hope she likes it, I made it myself!
